Google AdSense & Advertising
AdSense disclosure: MyNextJob.co.za uses Google AdSense to display advertisements. Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this Site and other sites on the internet.
We participate in the Google AdSense programme. This means:
- Google uses the DoubleClick cookie (and similar technologies) to serve interest-based ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to our Site or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our Site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- We have enabled Google’s EU User Consent Policy tools. If you are located in the EEA or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before personalised ads are shown.
Opting out of personalised advertising: You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings or by visiting aboutads.info. You can also manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Note that opting out does not mean you will no longer see ads — it means they will not be personalised based on your interests.
We comply with Google’s AdSense programme policies, which require us to maintain this Privacy Policy and to clearly disclose how Google and third parties use data in connection with ad serving.
| AdSense Feature | What It Does | Your Control |
|---|---|---|
| Interest-based ads | Shows ads relevant to your browsing history | Manage at Ads Settings |
| Contextual ads | Shows ads relevant to the current page content | Always active; no opt-out required |
| Remarketing | Shows ads to previous Site visitors | Opt out via Google Ads Settings or cookie manager |
| Auto ads | Automatically places ads in optimal positions | Managed at site level; contact us to query |

Google Discovery & Content Recommendations
Our content may appear in Google Discover (formerly Google Feed). Google’s own privacy policy governs how Google personalises the Discover feed for each user.
When our content is surfaced in Google Discover, Google may collect signals about how you interact with that content — such as whether you tap on an article, how long you read it, or whether you share it. This data is processed by Google under Google’s Privacy Policy.
To optimise our content for Google Discovery we follow Google’s structured-data and E-E-A-T (Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, Trustworthiness) guidelines. This means we may embed structured metadata (JSON-LD) in our pages. This metadata describes the article, author, and publication date — it does not transmit personal information about you.
We do not share your personal data with Google Discovery directly. Any personalisation of your Discover feed is controlled entirely by Google and your Google account settings.
05
Cookies & Tracking Technologies
We use cookies (small text files stored on your device), web beacons, pixels, and similar technologies. These fall into the following categories:
| Category | Purpose | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Site security, session management | Session ID cookies |
| Analytics | Understanding traffic and user behaviour | Google Analytics (_ga, _gid) |
| Advertising | Serving and measuring ads | Google AdSense (IDE, DSID) |
| Preference | Remembering your settings | Language, location preferences |
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. However, blocking certain cookies may impair Site functionality. For more details see allaboutcookies.org.
06
Third-Party Services
We integrate with the following third-party services that have their own privacy policies:
- Google LLC — Analytics, AdSense, Search Console, Fonts, reCAPTCHA (Google Privacy Policy)
- Job board and recruitment partners — Where job listings are sourced from third-party feeds, those providers process applications under their own policies
- Social sharing buttons — If present, these may allow social networks to track your visit
- Email service providers — Used to send job alerts you have subscribed to
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before interacting with their features.
07
Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: Trusted vendors who assist us in operating the Site (e.g., hosting, email delivery, analytics) under confidentiality obligations
- Legal obligations: Where required by South African law, court order, or regulatory authority
- Business transfer: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction
- With your consent: Where you have explicitly authorised a specific disclosure
Important: When you apply for a job via a third-party listing on our Site, your application data is submitted directly to that employer or recruitment partner. Their privacy policy, not ours, governs how they use that data.
08
Data Retention & Security
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this policy, or as required by applicable law. Analytics data collected by Google is retained according to Google’s own retention settings, which we have configured to the minimum necessary period.
We implement industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including:
- HTTPS / TLS encryption for all data in transit
- Access controls limiting staff access to personal data on a need-to-know basis
- Regular security reviews of our hosting environment
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but take all reasonable precautions.
09
